What to wear: Football season is never over

But that's just because it is the best sport in America. As a southern girl at an ACC school, I'm inherently biased.

But that's neither here nor there. This post is about one of my favorite holidays, The Superbowl. Wait, it's not a holiday? Lies. Even if you aren't that into football, look at every Superbowl as a reason to eat, look cute, party, and get rowdy for no reason.
This year the final teams are
Teams: Baltimore Ravens v. San Francisco 49ers
Colors: Purple and Black v. Gold and Red

If you are looking for ways to look cute for the Superbowl this year, look no further. Here are some outfit ideas for Sunday, February 3, 2013.

1. We're back in San Francisco
This dress from Clothes Hound, a boutique in Raleigh, NC is PERFECT for anyone cheering on the 49ers. The Cranberry Jam color with the gold, thin belt is almost identical to the 49ers' marroon and gold. The dress also features a feminine chevron print with sheer long sleeves to match the winter weather. Check it out: http://www.shopclotheshound.com/products-page/clothes/dresses/cranberry-jame/

2. That's So Raven

LoriHere is a dress for the Ravens fan! From E's Closet Boutique, the Lori is a simple black, longsleeved beauty! I love this dress. The neckline alone makes me want to buy it. The length is perfect--it can be worn around family and friends without feeling too revealing! For a 5'8 girl like myself, that is always one of my top priorities!

3. Blue Jeans, White Shirt....

Worst case scenario, you don't have enough time to order/buy a good dress. That is no problem at all! With a pair of nice blue jeans, wear a black or white longsleeve shirt and pair it with a team-colored scarf. With the winter weather, you can probably easily borrow one from a friend or neighbor, or if you go out and buy one, you'll be investing for the future!

I hope y'all are getting geared for Superbowl Sunday!

Hey y'all!

A quick introduction to yours truly

How is it that I failed to introduce myself?

Hi, I'm JM and I am a first year at THE best University in the South. ;)  I would describe myself as a Type A, outgoing, jolly teenager! I have an average style but I prefer quality over quantity, but since I earn all of my money, I usually limit my spending. I am LOVING my first year at my school and I couldn't be more fortunate to be here. I love my family and friends and I hope that I entertain y'all with my stories and recollections.

Since I am new to blogging, I will try to post something everyday! Ask questions about college, style, anything! Thanks

XOXO,

Oh, What a (cold) Night...

I'm going out again y'all. On this cold, wintry evening I am going out again. Some call it brave, some call it "stupid", but I'm just looking for a good time with some good friends. So here is to night #2.

I love my outfit tonight. Body suits are so slimming and accentuating. If you have worked out for a slim figure, simple body suits are the best way to show it off! Paired with American Apparel's 'Easy Jean', it is guaranteed to get looks, without trying TOO hard. I think I went a little retro-ey with this one, but it tied together so nicely, I just had to. Also, note how it is night #2 wearing the Vans. Oh, P.S., where I'm going tonight is not to far from my residence hall so the peacoat I have is a light jacket, I picked it up from TJ Maxx a couple years ago. I'm not as bundled as I was yesterday, but I am still staying warm.

Happy winter weather y'all!
XOXO,

JM, Sassy&Sweet

Have you seen my Keys?

Help, I lost my keys..AGAIN

Seems to me that everyone and their mother have been losing their keys. Let me tell you, college is the LAST place you want to lose them. Not only are their a million 'lost and found' places you would have to search, you also will never have the time to back track your busy schedule. Here is where I come in. Let me introduce to you the handiest ways to limit your loss of keys.

1. Vera Bradley's 'All in One' Wristlet

Usually I just slip my keys right on the handle of this bad boy and that about solves the problem. It carries your keys, cell phone, and IDs. This way, you are always concious of where you put it. I've gotten so attached to mine in the past 6 months its ridiculous. They range from $16.00-$42.00 on the Vera Bradley website, but you can even snag one at a secondhand store for about $9.00! Mine is in "Mocha Rouge"...I seriously cannot get enough of it!

2. Lilly Pulitzer's Carded ID Wristlet Canvas

If this isn't the cutest thing you ever did see, I don't know what is. Puppies, perhaps. But, Lilly Pulitzer is a genious when it comes to fun, preppy, whimsical prints. My favorite print in the Carded ID Wrislet is 'Shorley Blue A Little Leg Mini'. Yes, the one with the flamingos. It has bright colors and will surely catch your attention if you leave it on the dining hall table as you walk away. Another fun feature about this wristlet is that inside, it has two elastic bands to hold your favorite lipgloss or chapstick. Lets just say, Lilly knew what she was doing!

3. Smathers and Bransons' Needlepoint Key Fob

As most of my good friends know, I am a sucker for needlepoint. Needlepoint key fobs to be specific. The classic touch of "hand crafted" mixed with a masculine, leather strap, I fell IN LOVE with Smathers and Bransons' Needlepoint Key Fobs for only 25.00! These babies come in various assortments, political, sorority/fraternity specific, feminine, masculine, economic. There are endless possibilities for giving these as gifts to others, and gifts to yourself. PS, they look great on the strap of a backpack and guarantee you wont lose it anytime soon!

4. StinaStiches' Needlepoint Key Fob Kits on Etsy

Needlepoint Kit - Monogrammed Key Fob
If 25.00 is a little pricey for a Key Fob, StinaStiches sells a variety of needlepoint Key Fob Kits for $14.50 on Etsy.com. If you are looking for a 'DIY' project or beginning a new hobby, this is a great way to start! Plus, you can have all the satisfaction in saying "Yeah, I made this. Nbd."

Keys are so important in college: 1.Getting into your dorm 2.Getting into your room 3. They are SO expensive to replace.

I hope my tips are helpful to y'all!

A Midwinter Night's (Frigid) Dream

OOTN: (Outfit of the night)
p.s. it's so cold outside, I might be slowly freezing

I layered a pink chiffon shirt (looks extremely similar to the one above) with my favorite, most comfortable, off-white cable knit crew neck sweater. It is just too cold to go extremely chiffon.

No winter outfit is complete without my Black, North Face Resolve (just in case it starts to snow)!

I love this cable knit infinity scarf because it keeps my neck SO warm. Like, it's incredible. Although cable-knit on cable-knit may be too much, the black jacket separates the pieces outdoors so the color-fabric combo is not overwhelming.

Since it is the winter, and I have worn enough leggings this week, I paired this outfit with my favorite pair of Abercrombie and Fitch jeans. Yes, I am a college first year and I wear Abercrombie and Fitch jeans. There is nothing wrong with that. Some people judge and whatnot, but they are the most comfortable, high-quality jeans I have come across in shopping centers.

Lastly, I wore my black canvas vans out tonight. I am usually one for dressing up head-to-toe, but my toes need some repair from the amount of boots I have worn this week, and I love the way Vans look and feel on my feet. Everybody should, at some point in their life, invest in a pair of these shoes.

So that is my outfit for tonight on this winter evening, where it is 26 degrees and I have decided to still go out. Enjoy your night, y'all. Stay warm!

XOXO,

Cold Weather

COLD WEATHER ALERT! (as if you didn't know already)

Thursday, January 24, 2013
It's too dang cold. I am freezing my mittens off. Actually, I'm not. But that's just because I don't wear mittens. But anyways, I am freezing. I have been inside for 2 hours and I'm still freezing. Summer, save me.
If you're anything like me, you are struggling to find an outfit that is both warm and cute. No worries, I've got you covered.
1. Patagonia Women's

Although it is not a complete jacket, it keeps you warm and it stylish too! Paired with flannel, denim, or a chunky sweater, you are guaranteed to look adorable on the coldest day!

2. Hunter Wellington Rain boots

It goes without saying that these boots are ADORABLE. However, even though it is not raining, these boots are very uselful. Marching in the snow? Walking across campus? These boots are flexible and make for great, incliment weather back-ups!

3. Monogram Jackets

Excuse me while my southern, preppy side takes over this blog. Monograms. I LOVE MONOGRAMS. They are so precious and spice up any outfit! Etsy has monogram pullovers ranging from 32 to 48 dollars, most of which are of great quality. (Again, I am obsessed). Monogrammed Pullovers add a classy touch to any lazy-day/bad-weather outfit!

4. Leggings

Whoever said leggings couldn't pass as pants never wore leggings as pants. I mean, they are the most comfortable clothing given to mankind. BUT: When they are worn as bottoms, please cover the crotch!!! Right?! As long as you are dressed in an appropriate top, along with non-sheer leggings, you'll be fine ladies. Because they are undeniably comfortable. I, personally, love Walmart's Leggings, they are so stretchy and are accesible and under $10.00!

Hopefully these fashion faves will keep you warm in this horrid winter weather.
